Annual General Meeting 2019

Come and join us and your fellow members at our Annual General Meeting.  This will be an opportunity for you to hear about what your committee has been doing over the past year, to review the programme of events and the associated expenditure and to raise and discuss any matters of concern.  It will also be an opportunity to elect your committee for the coming year and to see what programme is planned.

Our guest speakers this year will be discussing a subject many of us address once and then try to forget about until it’s too late – Wills, Powers of Attorney and Probate. We are sure you will find this very useful and interesting.

Voting for committee members and on all other matters is, by our constitution, limited to IBM London Retiree Club Members.  Should you wish to join the committee please use the booking form (below) to express your interest; we would be delighted to hear from you.

Please advise us whether or not you will be attending the AGM and whether you require an item to be included under “Any Other Business”.  If you are NOT attending, please email your Apologies for Absence to Pauline Schurer or use the Online Booking Form to notify us. Travel is advised by public transport as there is no car parking available nearby.  The nearest underground and mainline stations are Bank, Monument and Cannon Street.  The walk from each is about 3-5 minutes.  If you come via Bank station, you will need to leave via Exit 7.  Please note that Abchurch Lane is entered from King William Street alongside the Daiwa Capital Markets building (recognisable from a distance by its large projecting clock with a golden eagle above it).  No.15 Abchurch Lane is directly opposite a large construction site (which is part of the work in progress to extend Bank station).

On arrival at the building, please tap on the security pad and the receptionist will open the door.  You will need to sign the RPSL visitor book in the lobby (for fire safety purposes) and sign-in again on our Club attendance register as you enter the adjacent Members’ Lounge where tea and coffee will be available from 12:30 pm.  Disabled access is available so please state on your attendance reply slip if this is required.

Afternoon tea and refreshments will also be provided once the main AGM business is complete and before we hear from our guest speakers, David Roper (a Solicitor) and his wife Sally, who will be sharing their ‘kind and expert’ approach to these dry subjects – Wills, Powers of Attorney and Probate.  The Members’ Lounge contains some lovely historic displays that you can enjoy whilst you are there.  If you wish to take lunch locally beforehand, there are several restaurants very close by, including EAT and Coco di Mama in King William Street and The Vintry and Harry’s Bar in Abchurch Yard (at the end of Abchurch Lane).
