Amersham Bowls Club is a thriving lawn bowls club based in Amersham. Whatever your age and whether you are an experienced bowler or a complete beginner you’re welcome to have a go. We start here at 10:30 with tea, coffee and biscuits.

After tea a club coach will tell us about the game of bowls and then those interested will have an opportunity to play. You must bring flat-soled shoes if you want to try this sport out, as we will be bowling on a grass surface. All equipment needed to play will be provided, with Amersham’s coach in support.

Please bring a packed lunch. The bar will open at midday (drinks not included in the cost of this event).

After lunch we will move to the Amersham Fair Organ Museum, where our tour starts. The musuem’s collection was founded by Albert Edward ‘Ted’ Reed (1926 – 2022) who had a keen interest in steam engines and fairground equipment – notably mechanical organs. From the 1960s onward Ted expanded his collection to encompass the instruments on display at the Museum today.

In 2004 a charitable trust was formed in order to safeguard the future of this iconic collection and make it available to the public, it is a lasting tribute to Ted Reed, whose dedication and foresight in preserving fairground organs and their traditional music will ensure that this important part of Britain’s heritage is secure for future generations to enjoy.

The museum is about 1.2 miles from the bowls club – see here for the address.
