Explore some of the treasures of the British Library and discover more about its history, collection and architecture on this guided tour of the Library's public areas.

The tour includes a visit to the Viewing Gallery and book-handling room where you can see some of the Reading Rooms and find out how books are stored, accessed and delivered.

There will be an introduction to some of the most iconic items held within the British Library collections. Find out more about the King’s Library (George III’s library) and the Klencke Atlas, the second-largest atlas in the world.

Your guide will introduce you to some of his or her favourite items in the Sir John Ritblat Gallery, where over 200 of the Library’s greatest treasures are displayed.

The Tour

The tour will last 90 minutes and each group is limited to a maximum of 15 people.

You will be allocated to one of two tour groups on arrival. The first tour starts at 11:15 and the second at 11:30.

You will find delicious hot and cold food and drinks at the cafés and restaurant at the London site to keep you going during your visit.
