The London canal museum was originally built by the entrepreneur Carlo Gatti as an ice well to store the ice he harvested from the Regent’s Canal and also that which he imported from Norway.

The museum will be decked out with atmospheric lighting and candles to get us in the festive mood.

The Camden Town Community Choir will be in the ice well and entertain us with two sets, performing many popular carols and some less well known ones. The acoustics are amazing!

There will be two demonstrations of ice cream making, Edwardian style. The museum’s tribute to Mrs Agnes B. Marshall, the Edwardian queen of ice-cream making, will be performing as the great lady and making Christmas ice cream using ice and salt without a freezer. Sweet mincemeat is the flavour of the evening!

A cash bar will be available offering beer and wine.

The gift shop will be open for Christmas shopping. It has a wide range of canal-related gifts on sale, including one of the largest collections of canal book titles in England. Spend £30 or more on your shopping and get a free drawstring bag!

A mince pie is included in the admission price.
