Set in 500 acres of Kentish parkland, Leeds Castle has been: a Norman stronghold; the private property of six of England’s medieval queens; a palace used by Henry VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon; a Jacobean country house; a Georgian mansion; an elegant early 20th century retreat for the influential and famous; and in the 21st century, it has become one of the most visited historic buildings in Britain.

On this self-guided visit you can explore the grounds and Castle at your leisure. After visiting the magnificent state rooms of Leeds Castle, visit the estate including the stunning gardens and the beautiful yew maze.

You will discover every corner of the Castle as it focuses on the remarkable succession of influential women over its 900-year history. Featuring professionally narrated audio commentary and new storytelling technologies, you will leave feeling as though you have truly stepped back in time.

Experience the enchanting Sculpture Safari. This trail offers a unique adventure to find sculptures dotted through the magnificent grounds and gardens. Embark on an exciting hunt for remarkable sculptures crafted by talented local artists. As you explore the breath-taking landscape of Leeds Castle, you’ll discover a variety of awe-inspiring artworks seamlessly integrated into the picturesque setting.

Food and Drink

Leeds Castle has a restaurant (The Castle View) as well as food kiosks in the Stable Courtyard and the Parlour located at the Maze.

Alternatively, you are welcome to bring a picnic.

Accessibility

Wheelchairs are available on loan free of charge, subject to availability.

A fully accessible mobility bus is available near the ticket office, running regularly throughout the day. This service is operated free of charge to visitors requiring assistance.

The car park has hard-standing spaces reserved for visitors with disabilities. The maximum distance from the car park to the fully accessible mobility service is approximately 100 metres.

Why Not Add an Overnight Stay?

The following day we are going to visit the National Fruit Collection, so you can stay overnight and visit the collection with us on the following day.

There are several hotels in the area. You may like to consider:

  • The Judds Folly Hotel just outside Faversham. The IBM Preferred Rate (email Harvey for the discount code) for a small double room is currently £80.19 incl VAT – cancellable at no charge until 4pm on the day (Std Rate is £99).
  • The Premier Inn at Faversham. The price for a std double room is currently £108 incl VAT – cancellable at no charge until 1pm on the day (or £74 non-refundable).
