The Hearing Dogs for the Deaf Southern Training Centre, affectionately called The Grange, nestles in the pretty Chiltern Hills. This is where the charity trains amazing hearing dogs who change deaf people’s lives, as well as providing other services for people with all levels of hearing loss.

On this tour we will be shown how, where and why cute little puppies are trained to become incredible hearing dogs. The tour includes a demo of what the dogs do (it’s impressive, every time), provides an opportunity to meet some hearing dogs in training and tells us how deaf peoples lives have been changed by hearing dogs.

Please note:

  • Much as the charity loves dogs, unfortunately they do not allow pet dogs on the tour. This is for the health and safety of their own furry friends.
  • The tour’s itinerary may be adjusted based on weather conditions.
  • Although the site is not large, the tour does involve walking around the site, some steps and standing for periods of time.
  • Blue Badge parking facilities are available. Please note that certain parts of the site may be uneven. If you would like to contact the charity to discuss wheelchair access or any other type of access, please contact them at events@hearingdogs.org.uk.
  • The charity is fully equipped to support all levels of hearing loss, from induction loops to BSL interpreters. Please let them know if you have any specific requirements at events@hearingdogs.org.uk.

This tour is strictly limited to 18 people. Book early to avoid disappointment!

Possible Lunch Venue

The charity’s on-site restaurant, The Grange, is available for lunch. You may wish to book a table for light bites or a wholesome lunch before the tour. Just make sure you that you are ready for the tour at 13:30.
